Stepping Out of Line

The following was borrowed from Dr. Robert Schuller
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." - Romans 12:2
Do you dare to be maverick? A maverick is a spunky, spirited calf that doesn’t run with the herd but ventures out into the beckoning canyons.
Mavericks are essential to the survival of the herd. A herd with no mavericks huddles together with backs to the wind, heads down, shoulders together, seeking to survive the storm. More than one herd of cattle has frozen to death that way. Where is the one who can break out of the group, put his head to the wind, and venture out to find shelter from the storm or discover new grazing ground?
Early in my ministry I was labeled a maverick by a rigid institutionalist in my denomination. My first reaction, I confess, was negative. I was offended. But when I checked on the definition, I admitted that I was indeed a maverick and proud of it. For being a maverick is a characteristic of people who walk by faith. When you start looking at what everybody else is doing before you make a move, you surrender leadership to your social group.
Dare to be a wise but wonderful nonconformist.
Look at the leaders of the world! They all step forward and upward and onward. And that’s beyond the line of conformity - always.
Let God have command over your life. When the Holy Spirit of the living God guides and leads in your life, you will be "transformed by the renewing of your mind." You will break out of the mold and be unique!
O Lord, give me enough faith to step out of line and move ahead with courage toward the dream You have given me. I shall dare to be a maverick today. Thank You, God.
